17 April 2013: Avebury, Stonehenge, and Tisbury

WEDNESDAY

My directions for today's circular route: Bath, Avebury, Stonehenge, Tisbury, and back to Bath.
Driving out of Bath in the opposite direction of traffic. One of Wiltshire's white horse carving in the hillside.
Welcome to Avebury, location of 4,000-5,000 year-old stone circles.
Bicycle leaning against a house. Postcards on sale outside an Avebury gift shop.
Silbury Hill, a man made Neolithic hill.
It is unnecessary to pay £7.50 to look at old rocks, thus one can view them through a fence for free.
Entering Tisbury.
Tisbury Police Station, closed.
St. John the Baptist Church of Tisbury, where my ancestor Thomas Mayhew was baptized on April 1, 1593.
The first chapel of the church. Wooden cross in the graveyard.
The one-lane road that leads out of Tisbury. Bath from a distance.
