21 July 2013: The Fire Station and Rowing on the River Avon

SUNDAY
Station open day here on: Sunday 21 July from 11am. I have been walking by this sign outside the fire station for well over a month and I can't believe how fast time has gone.
The event drew an audience of parents and young children. Yellow fireman hats were given away and children had the opportunity to spray a fire hose, climb into a fire engine, etc.
Bath Boating Co. Alcohol is lighter than water - but drunken sailors don't float.
Rowing east along the River Avon in a wooden skiff with two friends.
A skiff is a traditional type of rowing boat adapted for leisure use on inland waterways: long, graceful and slender for speed, but broad enough for stability and comfort. It dates back to the early to mid-1800s. The oarsman sits in the center; the passengers, meanwhile, sit back in comfort and steer the boat with a pair of ropes manipulating the rudder.
Bathampton. Tied up in the shade to a picnic lunch.
Blue dragonfly on a lily pad.
There were several river cruise boats continually going up and down the Avon that we had to be cautious of.

A chair in the water. After five hours on the river we returned our skiff.
